About Bayat Power

Since we
started work in 2016

At Bayat Power, we harness Afghanistan’s plentiful reserves of natural gas to provide reliable, affordable, and environmentally sustainable electric power to millions of homes and businesses throughout Afghanistan. Bayat Power empowers Afghans to build a brighter future for our nation.

Bayat Power is Afghanistan’s largest private Electric Power Production and Development Company.

The Company owns and operates Bayat Power-1, the first in a new generation of Gas to Electricity power generation plants that will provide affordable, reliable and environmentally sustainable electric power to homes and businesses throughout Afghanistan.

Located in Sherberghan—the epicenter of Afghanistan’s natural gas deposits—Bayat Power-1 uses Siemens SGT A-45 ‘fast power’ turbines in a three-phase configuration.

When all three phases of the SGT A-45 are in operation, Bayat Power-1 can generate more than 200 megawatts of electric power.

Powering Afghanistan’s Progress Through Training, Development and Afghan Ownership:
Bayat Power is leading the resurgence of Afghanistan’s Energy Exploration, Energy Development and Gas-Fired Power Production sectors. We’re proud to invest in the promise and potential of Afghans, through educational and professional development programs that are building up a new generation of Afghan Engineers and Technical Specialists.
This emerging generation of Afghan Energy, Field Service Engineers and Technicians will unlock Afghanistan’s vast energy potential and generate the electric power which is essential to Afghanistan’s economic progress.

Bayat Power and The Bayat Group: Building a Bright Future For Afghanistan:
Bayat Power is a division of The Bayat Group. Founded in 2002 by Dr. Ehsan Bayat, for nearly two decades, The Bayat Group has been a proud and positive partner in Afghanistan’s progress, through its role as Afghanistan’s largest company, employer, investor and provider of charitable giving.

Our Mission

Afghan Power For Afghan Progress

Our mission at Bayat Power is clear and vital: we’re committed to providing Afghanistan with the affordable, reliable and environmentally sustainable electric power we need to build better lives for our families, our communities and our nation.
Afghanistan’s need for new sources of electric power is tremendous. Presently, Afghanistan imports more than eighty-percent of its electricity. This power is purchased by the Afghan Government using precious foreign reserves, which imposes a significant burden on our nation’s economy.
Yet, even with this imported electricity, power shortages are still common throughout our country. The electricity produced by Bayat Power-1—Afghanistan’s first completely new gas power plant in almost forty years— not only helps reduce our country’s dependence on imported electricity, but also creates jobs here in Afghanistan. Our project is simultaneously contributing to better Afghanistan’s economic and energy security.
Bayat Power-1 also helps forge the development of a domestic power generation industry, which will help Afghanistan achieve energy independence.
The vanguard of Afghanistan’s domestic power generation industry, Bayat Power-1 is the first of a new generation of privately funded, Afghan based and Afghan owned power plants. Increased domestic power generation—and the growth of an Afghan owned and led domestic energy industry—will generate more economic growth and additional opportunities for Afghans to succeed.
Building an Afghan led domestic energy industry, producing electricity that promotes our nation’s energy security and economic growth: This is the mission that Bayat Power is proud to undertake—and we’re determined to achieve.
